Seatbelt Repairs for Mechanics, Dealers and Fleet Workshops
When a damaged belt holds up a roadworthy, handover or vehicle repair, send us the assembly details. We inspect the complete unit and advise whether re-webbing, retractor service or replacement is suitable.
A specialist bench service that fits your workflow
Melbourne Seatbelt Repairs works with automotive workshops, RWC testers, dealers, panel shops, restorers and fleet operators. Your team can bring in a pre-removed assembly, arrange a local pickup where our service area permits, or post units to our Carrum Downs workshop. We can also remove and refit a belt here when the vehicle is booked in.
Roadworthy and servicing workshops
Frayed webbing, dog damage, slow retraction and worn belts are common inspection findings. Send the tester's note and belt position so we can assess the right route.

Discuss single vehicles or repeat work with our team. We will confirm suitable repairs, expected workshop timing and a process for approved jobs.

Ask about replacement webbing and available colours for an assembly that passes inspection. Crash-affected restraints and deployed pretensioners may need replacement.

How a trade job moves through the workshop
Send the details
Year, make, model, seating position, fault, quantity and clear photos. Include roadworthy or collision notes when relevant.
Choose delivery
Arrange drop-off, ask whether local pickup is available, or send pre-removed assemblies by post. Contact us before dispatch.
Inspection and approval
We assess webbing, retraction and accessible hardware. If extra work or replacement is needed, we discuss it before proceeding.
Return or refit
Collect from Carrum Downs, receive the completed unit by freight, or book vehicle refitting by our mechanics.
What we can assess
Frayed or damaged webbing
Where the retractor and hardware are serviceable, we remove the damaged webbing and fit new material manufactured to AS/NZS 2596 requirements.
Weak or slow retraction
The cause can be a twist, contamination or a mechanical fault. We check the unit before recommending service or replacement.
Custom and restoration work
Choose from stocked colours and discuss older assemblies individually. Colour availability and suitability are confirmed before work.
A seatbelt is a safety restraint. We do not assume a crash-loaded or deployed assembly can simply be re-webbed. The authorised tester decides the final roadworthy outcome.
Mail-in work for interstate trade customers
Pack pre-removed assemblies securely after contacting us. Your workshop arranges and pays postage to Carrum Downs. Return postage is $19 to one Australian address for one or more belts in the same order. Most suitable standard jobs are completed within one business day after receipt and approval; freight transit is separate. We will confirm timing for your specific job.
Full mail-in instructions →NSW and Queensland workshop mail-ins
Trade partners outside Victoria can send a pre-removed assembly after we have checked the vehicle details, fault, belt position and inspection note. Your workshop handles local removal and refitting; we inspect and quote the unit in Carrum Downs. See our NSW and Queensland guides for the customer-facing postal process.
Pricing and original-assembly enquiries
For a straightforward pre-removed standard reweb, the public starting point is $165 including GST. Trade arrangements and additional work are confirmed for your job. See the public pricing guide → · Discuss classic restoration → · Send photos and inspection notes →
