Many customers contact us wanting to know exactly what repair they need before we have even seen the seatbelt. We understand why — but the reality is that two seatbelts with identical visible damage can require completely different repairs.
For example:
- A frayed belt may simply require re-webbing.
- Another frayed belt may also have contamination inside the retractor that needs to be addressed at the same time.
- A belt that won’t retract could have twisted webbing inside the housing.
- Or the spring may have weakened over time.
- Or the locking mechanism may be damaged in a way that is not visible from the outside.
That is why every repair begins with an inspection of the complete assembly — webbing, retractor, hardware and operation. We would rather tell you the correct answer after inspecting it than give you the wrong answer over the phone.
How We Decide the Best Repair
Every repair follows the same process, regardless of the damage type or vehicle.
Not every seatbelt can or should be repaired. If a seatbelt has crash damage, a deployed pretensioner, damaged hardware or unsafe components, replacement may be required instead of repair. We inspect every assembly and advise you clearly before any work is carried out.

A customer drove in with a rear seatbelt that had been flagged at a Victorian roadworthy inspection. The webbing had light fraying at the edge — enough to fail the inspection, but not immediately obvious to the owner. Before re-webbing, we removed the assembly and inspected the retractor, which was found to be contaminated with dust and lint. Both the webbing and the retractor were addressed before the assembly was refitted.
The vehicle was back on the road the same day. It is a good example of why a seatbelt should always be inspected as a complete assembly rather than judged by the visible damage alone.

Do I need to remove the seatbelt myself?
No. Customers visiting our Carrum Downs workshop can have the seatbelt professionally removed and refitted by our qualified mechanics. If you are using our mail-in service, your local mechanic can remove the assembly before posting it to us.
How long does a repair take?
Most repairs are completed within 24 hours of the seatbelt arriving at our workshop. We will advise you of the expected turnaround when you contact us.
Can you repair a seatbelt that has been in an accident?
Crash-damaged seatbelts, deployed pretensioners or assemblies with damaged hardware may require replacement rather than repair. We inspect every assembly and advise the safest option before proceeding.
Do you offer coloured seatbelt webbing?
Yes. We stock more than 30 webbing colours including black, red, blue, orange, yellow, grey and silver. If your seatbelt already needs re-webbing, it is the ideal time to upgrade to a colour of your choice.
Can you repair seatbelts for any vehicle?
Yes. We work on all makes and models including cars, 4WDs, vans, utes, commercial vehicles, classic vehicles and modified vehicles. If your vehicle is not listed on our site, contact us — we almost certainly work on it.
Do you offer a mail-in service?
Yes. Australia-wide mail-in repairs are available. Have your seatbelt removed by a local mechanic, post it to our Carrum Downs workshop, and we will return it repaired and securely packaged.
